Week 5 Game Summary

It's the Final Countdown

The intensity was rising out there on the AIS oval as the kids contested for that coveted Grand Final spot.

Game 1 was the Hammerheads versus the Makos.  There was plenty of pressure early with Makos straight into attack but thankfully had Jamie Hope  solid in defence, with his constant marking and kicking to targets up the ground.  At the other end, Ethan Rogers laid a cracking tackle on the courageous Brayden Hope.  Jacob Naismith goaled after a snap across the body whilst Harrison Hook was solid with his strong marking and possession play.  EJ worked hard for the Makos whilst as well as kicking goals, Ethan Rogers showed off his skills with a lace out kick to Lachlan Pollock.  In the end, the Hammerheads held on for a 12 point win, which meant they could not be knocked off top spot and progressed to the Grand Final.  A big relief for caretaker coach Travis Mills who was entrusted with the important coaching role for the last round.

In game 2,  the Hammerheads took on the Tiges.  The Tigers nailed the game in first half, slotting 4 goals 8 and keeping the Hammers scoreless.  Coby "Zinger" Edmonstone was influential with a strong mark early but missed the shot, later making amends with a great running goal after smart hands from Liam Phelan.  Cody Head nearly pulled in a classic overhead fly for the Hammers, whilst Oli Woolley made an incredible tackle on Hunter Barnes and a Stirling Keogh tackle in front of the roaring crowd epitomised the Tiger spirit.  The Tiges went on with the job in the 2nd half, and ended up big 41 point winners.

In game 3, the Makos tried to stop the Tigers juggernaut but again, it was a powerful first half that secured the win for the Tigers.  Felix Katsaros made a super smother, gather and goal with his proud Dad on the sideline suddenly dreaming of his own younger years...  Cameron Hissey showed some super poise and evasion, whilst Xavier Keogh took a strong mark and goal.  Caleb Woodward was dashing with his run down the CTE wing and Berro's checkside goal in the second half was a cracker for a guy who could barely walk before the sniff of a goal erased the pain of his corkie.  Will Davies saved a certain goal on the line with his great reading of the play.

Remarkably, the crowd was even bigger again. Can't wait to see how many Sharks we can get onto the sidelines for the GF this weekend.
