What a great day of football. With Round 4 now complete, the ladder and positions are beginning to firm up. Round 5 will be an exciting night under lights and our final round of the formal Lightning Rounds games. A big thank you to Simon Heagney and Leigh Stewart for their assistance in umpiring games in the U11’s and U13’s, in what was arguably the hottest day of the year.

One thing that was apparent over the weekend and reported from our central umpires in the U9’s and U11’s was the presence of back chat and arguing towards the umpires. This is completely unacceptable and something we have worked so hard to deter from our brand of footy. Umpires have been instructed to respond with a penalty to the offending team. Coaches and parents, please discuss and reiterate with your players and children the importance of respecting the umpire and their decision. I am confident we will see a complete turnaround in this area.

It was great to see the Great Whites Sharks in the U11’s win their first match of the year. It was a difficult day with them having to play 3 matches in a row but they grinded and grinded to finally record their first win. The crowd, coaches, officials and players were all ecstatic and on their feet in congratulating the players. This epitomizes the spirit of Sharks football in showing true grit and it was a wonderful highlight.

See you all Friday under lights.
