Hopefully the Easter Bunny found all the kids as they took a quick break between terms.  We are back to the footy this week, and with the AFL resuming in Australia last weekend, I am sure we will see a few new moves this week at training!!

Some exciting news to share in terms of AFL player visits for this season.  Starting on the 2nd May, we have Adelaide Crow Andy Otten joining us.  The tall agile defender has played 69 games for the Crows.  He was runner-up to Daniel Rich for the Norwich Rising Star Award in his debut season in 2009.  Not far behind, on the 23rd May, Melbourne star Jack Trengove will be a guest of the Singapore Sharks. A former Melbourne co-captain, a number two draft pick, Jack has represented his club 81 times and also appeared in the Australian side against Ireland.  Both guys are recovering from injury, so a great opportunity for us to learn from active players in the middle of their careers.  Don't miss this fantastic opportunity!

  • The Melbourne Footy Trip has also been confirmed. We will play the main grid game at half time on Saturday June 20 at Etihad during the Western Bulldogs vs Brisbane clash. Please email expressions of interest to sharksfc@ais.com.sg please include name and child's year group.
  • Perth Trip:  As identified in previous communications, we will be visiting Perth over the August Singapore National Day long weekend.  On the Saturday (8 August) we have already managed to organise a late morning private tour and lunch at Little Creatures Brewery in East Fremantle, followed by the kids playing in a match during half time of the East Fremantle Sharks versus West Perth Falcons WAFL game.  On the Sunday morning we will also participate in an Auskick competition which will be hosted by the Cottesloe Magpies Junior Football Club in Perth.  The intention is to field two Under 9 teams (20 players) and two Under 7 teams (20 players).  We will obviously also try to accommodate siblings that fall just above or below these age groups.  Other events are also being planned, including group dinners and a visit on the Friday (7 August) afternoon, for those around, to watch the Hawthorn Hawks train at Patterson Stadium ahead of their game against the West Coast Eagles on the Saturday night.  If you are interested, please forward your expression of interest, along with child's name and age group, to sharksfc@ais.com.sg With MOM announcing an extra holiday for Friday August 7, this trip is even more appealing – especially for those who do not want to take annual leave.
