Friday Night under lights was a huge hit with our Auskickers with a large number across all age groups turning up for some serious fun under our new lights.  The evening was a great hit and even though it’s the end of a busy week, the energy levels of our Auskickers were high due to the cooler evening breeze. A great family feel with some great footy for all our family spectators watching whilst enjoying an end of week ‘wind down’ bevvy.   Check out our May Shark of the Month below – well done to all the SOM awardees – some really amazing footy skills in play now! The talk of the night was definitely ‘more games under lights for next season’.  A big thanks to our committee, coaches, Auskickers, family & friends who turned up for a fun night.

From the Oval

Friday nights under lights was a real treat and something worth the wait. What better a night to also award our monthly Shark of the Month. Whilst we were unsure of how many numbers we would get, the whole committee was blown away by the dozens of Auskickers who turned out to play under lights. With so many, we were able to run a round robin in age groups. With the U7’s being led by Coach Cutho, we had a Battle Royal between two teams of 12. Our biggest group the U9’s and they definitely did not disappoint with the standard of football and the free flowing game between the two teams. Finally, we mixed the under 11’s and 12+’s for maximum effect and had a three way round robin with a final being played. Much to the disappointment of some Sharks, we played a tag game to ensure safety was paramount in what at times looked like a David v Goliath contest. Overall, it was a great night and a huge success and I look forward to doing this on a more regular basis next year. With the end of the season quickly approaching, I encourage all Auskickers to be on time and make the most of the sessions and finish the season on a high. The football development has been very impressive to watch and as a coach, very satisfying. Having AFL coaches and players comment on the standard of our program has been wonderful and a real testament to the effort from Auskickers. With the end of season comes more game time. Please  ensure your child brings a mouthguard to each session. NO MOUTHGUARD, NO PLAY.

Shark of the Month

Congratulations to all of our Shark of the Month awardees. Coaches take this initiative very seriously and award those Auskickers who are continuing to strive and show all the attributes of being a Sharks Footballer; Being a great teammate, showing outstanding sportsmanship and continuing to demonstrate committment and attitude to improving their game. With one Shark of the Month left for the season, some tough decisions will need to be made….again!

U7 - Fred Heagney U9 - Christian Capogreco
U11- Lachlan Rudden
U12+ - Caleb Woodward

From the Gym

Or should I say from the Oval? The U5’s and U6’s got a chance to play our great game under the bright lights on Friday night! To get things started, the kids and coaches ran a big lap of the oval before moving into smaller groups and getting into some quick skill drills. Next we started our game! Due to the smaller numbers, we had a 25 minute game with the U5’s and U6's mixed in together. There was a fantastic level of skill on display and it was great to see the players implementing the skills they have been learning throughout the year in a game situation. An enjoyable evening was had by all the players and there will be a big push to have more of these nights next season!
